About My PDF
My PDF is a free, browser-based suite of PDF tools built to do one job well: let anyone merge, split, compress or convert a PDF without installing software, creating an account, or trusting a stranger with their files.
Why We Built This
Most people don't need a PDF editor — they need one specific thing done to one specific file, right now, without signing up for a subscription or installing a desktop application for a task they'll do twice a year. My PDF exists to be that: a set of focused, single-purpose tools that each do exactly what their name says, with nothing else in the way.
How It Works
Every tool on this site processes your file, returns the result, and then deletes both the upload and the output automatically once the job is done or a short window has passed — there is no permanent storage, no database of user files, and no account system that could ever be breached because it doesn't exist. The processing itself is handled by well-established, open-source PDF and image tooling running on our own servers; nothing is sent to a third-party API to be processed.
Mission & Vision
Our Mission
To make everyday PDF tasks — merging, splitting, compressing, converting, protecting — instant, free and accessible to anyone with a browser, with no account, no watermark and no catch.
Our Vision
A web where a document tool doesn't need to know who you are to help you. We want My PDF to be the tool people reach for out of habit, not obligation, because it simply works every time.
Core Values
The principles that shape every decision, from a new tool to a single button label.
Privacy by Default
Nothing about a tool should require trusting us with more than the one job it does.
Respect for Time
No forced sign-up walls, no waiting rooms, no artificial delays before a free feature unlocks.
Honesty in the Interface
If something isn't built yet, we say so — we don't fake a feature to make the product look bigger.
Free Should Mean Free
No expiring trials and no core tool locked behind a "premium" tier.
Our Technology
Nothing exotic — a deliberately simple, dependency-light stack chosen for speed and reliability at scale.
A Lean, Modern Stack
Built on PHP 8.3 with no framework overhead — every request is handled by code written specifically for this site, not a general-purpose framework carrying features we never use.
Established PDF Tooling
Processing is handled by well-established, open-source PDF and image tools running on our own servers — nothing is sent to a third-party API to be converted or read.
Defense in Depth
Every upload passes several independent checks — file type, real content signature, size, corruption and encryption — before it ever reaches a processing tool.
Nothing Kept Longer Than Needed
Uploaded files and generated results live in an isolated, temporary workspace that a scheduled cleanup process removes automatically, usually within minutes.
Privacy & Security Commitment
Privacy Commitment
We never open, read, scan or share the contents of a file you upload. There is no account system, so there is no profile of you to build in the first place. See our full Privacy Policy for specifics.
Security Commitment
Every upload is validated, isolated and processed in a restricted workspace, and both the input and output are deleted automatically shortly after. See our dedicated Security page for the full picture.
User-First Philosophy
Every design decision on My PDF starts from one question: does this make the visitor's task easier, or does it make our life easier at their expense? A tracking script, an extra click before a download, an upsell interrupting a free tool — all of these fail that test, so none of them are here. When those two goals genuinely conflict, the visitor's task wins.
Our Journey
Started With One Problem
A simple frustration — too many PDF tools demanding a signup for a task that takes ten seconds — became the reason to build something better.
Grew Into a Full Toolset
What began as one or two tools grew into a full library covering merging, splitting, compressing, converting and protecting PDFs.
Hardened for Production
Upload validation, rate limiting, structured logging and automated health checks were built in so the platform can safely handle real, daily traffic at scale.
Future Roadmap
My PDF is actively maintained, and the tool library keeps growing. Some of what's actively planned:
- Expanding conversion formats beyond the current PDF/Word/image set.
- Batch processing so several files can go through the same tool in one pass.
- Deeper accessibility auditing on every tool page, not just the legal/company pages.
- A public status page showing real-time tool availability.
None of this changes what already works today — every existing tool keeps working exactly as it does now.
